Q What size pot should I plant my African Violets In. As an example I have Emerald Green what sized pot would be appropriate. G.S. |

A AV's like to have their roots crowded. So the pot size should not be based on a specific hybrid ( Emerald Green is a Standard ) but more on the actual size of the plant right now. Is it a small starter plant or a full grown plant. As a general rule of thumb, The pot size should be 1/3 the diameter of the plant. Meaning that a 12inch violet would grow best in a regular 4inch pot. A 6inch Violet in a 2inch pot. This rule of thumb might be difficult to follow with some of the smaller mini's but the general consensus is, keep the roots crowded, and when potting up never move up more than one pot size at a time. |

Q Were can I find info regards African Violets? |

A Your local club meetings are obviously a good start, there you can always ask questions one on one with experienced growers, but I realize that meetings are typically only once per month, sometimes difficult to attend and typically when you want your question answered you do not want to wait until the next meeting anyway. Most club members are more than willing to take phone calls and answer questions that way, but if you are fairly computer literate there are also a number of AV Groups on the internet where you can ask your questions and often get multiple answers and opinions very quickly. Here are a couple that you might like to try Canadian African Violet Exchange Group Just click the links
