Regular meetings are held at The Toronto Botanical Gardens - 777 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto, M3C 1P2.(South West corner of Leslie and Lawrence.) on the third Tuesday of the month from September to May.
Meetings begin at 7.30 pm and usually finish around 10.pm. Parking is free. Click Here for Map & Directions Members are encouraged to bring blooming plants for 'Show & Tell' at our monthly meetings. There is valuable knowledge and much to gain from comments, to aid one in the growing and showing of violets and gesneriads. members may also donate leaves, plants or 'white elephant' items to be drawn at our monthly meetings. Draw tickets are available and numbers are drawn during the social break for these items.
SPEAKERS:
Our general meetings feature a lecture from either one of our members or from a guest speaker invited to discuss topics of general interest.This includes demonstrations, talks, helpful hints etc., on the growing of African Violets. We also have expert speakers on occasion in various fields of violets, gesneriads, or design. Occasiionally we feature a panel of experts who cover a number of related topics to inform our members of the best growing techniques.
PLANT SALES TABLE:
'Plants' and 'Leaves' are available for purchase. Members may sell healthy plants with a 20% commission returned to the club to help defray the Club's operating expenses.
SUPPLY TABLE:
Our 'Supply Table' includes items purchased by the club for resale to its members which is generally at a discount price. Supply items include: potting mix, fertilizer, superthrive, screens, a variety of pot sizes and NZ spaghnum peat pellets. All proceeds from this table are returned to the club. LIBRARY: An extensive library of books, magazines and newsletters are available for borrowing by club members.
COFFEE BREAK:
A coffee break is provided midway through the meeting. This is a great way to stretch and chat with new guests and other members.

October - 21: Presentation by Carolyn Conlin-Lane - "Chiritas".
November - 18: Installation of New Board and Executive Presentation by Bev & Bruce Williams - "Lighting and growing Minis and Semi Miniature Violets". Bruce will talk about lighting, particularly about converting from T12 bulbs to T8's. Bev will talk about growing Show Plants, especially about Miniatures and Semi-Miniatures.
December - TBA: CHRISTMAS PARTY -
January - 20: Presentation by Vivian Beeching - "Design Do's and Don'ts". In this workshop, Vivian will demonstrate proper design techniques and give members a chance to try their hand at designing.
February - 16: Presentation by Mark Trusz - "Basic Photography of Plants". March - 16: Presentation –Tips and Tricks for growing your violets.
April - 06: Presentation – Last minute review of show preparations and preparing your plants for entry.
April - 09, 10, 11: ANNUAL SHOW AND SALE: Toronto Botanic Gardens. April 09, Friday, Set up and Entries.
April 10, Saturday, Show Room open to the Public 12.00 noon to 5.00 pm
April 11, Sunday- Show Open to the Public, 10.00 am to 3.00 pm.
